Download Youtube Videos on Ubuntu / Linux Mint

It is very easy to download youtube videos on windows using dedicated software in your preferred format.So to download youtube videos on ubuntu here are some tools

Clipgrab:

ClipGrab is a free downloader and converter for YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion and many other online video sites.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:clipgrab-team/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install clipgrab

Minitube:
Minitube is a native YouTube client for Linux (as well as Windows and Mac OS X) which you can use to watch videos without Flash Player. Further more, Minitube can also be used to download videos from YouTube.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install minitube

Youtube-dl:
youtube-dl is a small command-line program to download videos from YouTube.com and a few more sites. It requires the Python interpreter, version 2.x (x being at least 6), and it is not platform specific. It should work in your Unix box, in Windows or in Mac OS X. It is released to the public domain, which means you can modify it, redistribute it or use it however you like.
youtube-dl
sudo apt-get install youtube-dl
Download Youtube video through commandline
youtube-dl <video URL>
To download the file in your preferred format, type

youtube-dl -f <format code> <video url>

    1. you were trying to install clipgrab while you were installing updates or other software or you must forcefully stopped installation earlier.simply type in terminal when you get error like this .
      $ sudo rm /var/cache/apt/archives/lock && sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/lock

      ubuntu installs only one software at a time if you want to install multiple software type
      $ sudo apt-get install app1 app2 app3 .....
